For the Birds

This card gave me a bit more experience with colored pencils. I am liking finding other ways to do the same old card sentiments with something new. I did a graduation card with this one.
The little blue bird is really cute! And I bet he's glad he doesn't have to mess with all those books now!

I used white, blue and red card stock. The card measures 4.25 x 5.5. The red was cut at 4 x 5.25 and the blue was cut at 4 1/8 x 5 3/8. I embossed the red card stock with a Cuttlebug embossing folder, it has no name on it. The swirls look a bit like butterflies and I have had it for quite awhile. I printed the sentiment on my computer on white card stock and is in blue. The three flat backed blue pearls are Jot brand from the Dollar Tree. That cute bird image is from Ikes World Challenges. I colored the image with colored pencils by Spectrum Noir, and blended with Gemsol using paper stumpy nubs.

Again, this was a good project and would look great in everyone's school colors. I am lovin how this one turned out!

Happy crafting!

Guy Card

I like using things on my work that are a bit unconventional, like washers, snaps for clothing, safety pins, you get my drift. The things that are being used now are cogs and gears. Yeah, that's good!
I used the embossing folder from Cuttlebug. The cogs I had in my stash and the stamp set is MSE! My Sentiments Exactly, all with white card stock and adhered to a black card stock card base. Very simple and clean.

Give some metal pieces a shot on a project. Go to DigiChoosday for some great inspiration! They look pretty good on paper!

Water color

Hi everyone!

Gosh, I haven't water colored in many ages! But I needed to do it, so here it is!

It turned out much better than I thought it would for sure! Very pleased. I used watercolor paper by Strathmore. The Just for You stamp is from my stash and the dog stamp is from Penny Black called Man's Best Friend. The water colors are Artist's Loft from Michael's. This card is for our papercrafting get together for March.

Christmas Tag

About 10 years ago, I began making tags and they have become some of my most favorite things to do. I did alot of Tim Holtz challenges at Christmas. It was the only time he did those challenges then, the 12 Days of Christmas Tags.

He really is a great inspiration for learning new techniques and using new media.  This tag goes on my Christmas tree every year.
The paper roses are handmade. I cut flower petals on my Cricut. Kathy Orta King has a tutorial on these here: Kathy Orta makes Tim Holtz roses
The leaves are a stamp by Recollections, the ticket that says WISH was printed from computer, the background is a script stamp from Recollections, topped off with clear gemstones, also from Recollections. And I used Vintage Photo Distress Ink from Ranger to ink the edges. It is finished off with some glittery red ribbon I bought from JoAnn Fabrics.

This one I will always treasure and am glad I shared it with you.

Birthday Card

Happy Sunday!!

Just had a birthday celebration with a couple of friends on Friday night. Lovely dinner out, great food and even better company. And I tell you, that food was awesome!

I love this stamp set, but do not know many cat people. So I was delighted to use it. I bought this when I first began paper crafting, and at that time, I either didn't save the wrapping or I used them so much that the wrapping fell apart. I am thinking it's an Inkadinkadoo stamp set.

I left the cat white by stamping on white Recollections card stock. With pink Wink of Stella, I colored in the cat's nose, inner ears, and pads of it's feet. With red Wink of Stella, I colored the cat's collar. The fish bones were colored with brown Wink of Stella. The background paper is from an old 4x6 paper pad from DCWV called the Pet Stack. I fussy cut the cat placed it on green card stock, cut it out and popped it up with pop dots. It was a real hit!

Inside the card says, "Hope you had a purrrrrrrfect day!"

Pull Tab Card

Hi everyone! Hope your weekend is going great so far. This card is a last minute birthday card for a fella in my family. It is a simple pull tab card and the flap opens on the front, saying God Bless.

I like easy, as you all have probably guessed by now, but cards and other projects don't always have to be complex to be pretty, elegant and attention getting.
Pretty simple. Three colors and one spot of red. I used recollections blue card stock. I believe this came from the paper pack with 5 colors of blue. The patterned paper is from DCWV Indian Summer Fall Stack, which is an older paper pad. And then Recollections black card stock. The stamp is from MSE! My Sentiments Exactly Handwritten Sentiments set. I use that set ALOT! It's one of my favorites. Also a couple of enamel dots by Paper Studios.

This card worked up fast and was in the mail in no time. I would give a shout out to the person where I got this idea from, but after looking for the video or instructions, I came up empty, so check out YouTube for a pull tab card, and if I run across it again, I will be sure to post!

Make one of these soon!

The Dark Knight

Like going to the movies? There was a time when Hollywood was putting out good movies one after another. In 2008, the movie The Dark Knight came out and I got this crazy idea that it would be cool to do 8 1/2"x 11" scrapbook pages of movies we went to see. I simply went online and printed a picture of The Joker and put together a page that was super fun to do.
The background card stock is patterned, but the bats are made with a card board bat I cut myself. I inked it with black ink and stamped it on the paper. The print of The Joker is matted on black card stock, the hair of The Joker is done with green stickles. I found the cool joker player card online and printed it, added to the page. The actual tickets we purchased are matted on black card stock.

Talk about a cool project! I have a few others from movies during that same year or two as well, but this one catches my attention!

Dita Tag

After looking through some of my projects, I think some of my favorite stamps are made by Julie Nutting through Prima Marketing, Inc. You can get so many looks with one stamp, and even though I am not much of a paper piecing crafter, it's the only way I do these stamps.
This tag needed to be about 7 inches, or more, tall. I had some ephemera pieces in my stash (the record and the fraction paper) that I used, a piece of patterned paper I had in my scrap bin, the flowers are Recollections from Michael's, and I stamped the image 4 times. Each stamped image was used for the paper pieces. For the hair I used brown, for the bow and shoes, deep red, for the skirt ruffle is a light pink pattern, and polka dot for the dress itself. I used Recollections brads for the centers of the flowers. I had to do alot of fussy cutting on this one, as this stamp, at that time anyway, had no dies. Some of the stamps do and some don't, just an FYI.

I used Vintage Photo to ink the edges and Spun Sugar for the doll's cheeks. Even with all the cutting and piecing, it didn't take long to get it put together and inked. I love how it turned out and I am crazy about that dress!

Christmas Planner

During the Christmas Season, we can all use a little help. We forget a gift or two, a date for a work related Christmas party, or that you just need to send a card. Help is on the way! It's called the Christmas Planner.
I made this for my sister this past Christmas, it's my first. The paper pad is North Pole Gazette by Recollections and it's gorgeous! This was made with a standard 80 page composition book. There are also 100 page books, which I use for my yearly planners (saving that one for another post!)

The closure is an elastic headband from Dollar tree, with red and white glittery flowers adhered to it. Then a red rhinestone in the center. The center of the planner cover has Christmas Planner typewritten on card stock and adhered to the front.

Here I made tabs for all the categories of the planner for easy access. Inside there are pages I printed from Scattered Squirrel.com. These pages will make the composition book thicker, so don't add thick embellishments if you don't want it to be even thicker.

I absolutely love this paper, definitely one of my favorites! And I am very pleased how this planner turned out and if you still have this paper pad, try making a Christmas planner with it. This paper will certainly get you into the mood of the season!

Happy crafting!

A Doggy Valentine

Sometimes, you just want to let someone you care about know that you are thinking of them, while keeping it light and fun. That's what I was looking for with this card. I thought, "What if, one goofy dog was looking out from behind another goofy dog?" And here's what happened:
This is certainly a fun one. It makes me smile when I see it, and hoping you are thinking the same. These two dogs are the Crazy Dogs stamps by Tim Holtz. The X O  paper and tag are from the paper pack Galentines by Recollections at Michael's. All on white card stock also from Recollections and the gray dog in the front is popped up with a dimensional. The inside reads, " True Besties!"

If you have or plan to get this stamp set, you can have some good fun with it!  Also, check out DigiChoosday for some great inspiration, too! I have made Christmas cards with these cuties on them, so go for it and have fun with your card making!

Life is Wonderful card

I made this card for a club I attend monthly. Lots of lovely ladies that create awesome cards! Our theme for February was Pearls and Lace, so here it is!

The card is from white Recollections card stock, with a beautiful embossed paper I got from JoAnn Fabrics by Hot Off the Press called Peacock White. The both of the lace is from my stash (the green is very shimmery), and three flat backed pearls from the Dollar Tree.

I like the simple, but elegant, look of this card. It supplies tons of interest without being overwhelming. I owe it all to the Peacock White paper. It's loaded with texture and shimmer, and yet it's simple.

The green shimmer lace is the Celebrate It brand and adds a pop of color to the card.  For the sentiment I simply print it from my computer. On the inside it says, With You.

Enjoy!
Happy crafting!

Altered Clothespins

Hello Everyone!

Today I am posting another swap project I created called Altered Clothespins. Who would have thought, right? Supplies are pretty simple. You will need any type and size clothespins, except maybe those tiniest ones (I used the standard clothespin that you can get at Dollar Tree), 5 white card stock 1 1/2" hearts, 2 of the same hearts cut from patterned paper, 1 flat backed pearl, 2 paper flowers, a piece of lace, a small button, some twine (I actually used embroidery floss), Glimmer Mist, and white acrylic paint for each clothespin. I used Art Glitter glue to adhere everything. You can take it a step further as I did and use a spray adhesive and glitter on the clothespin before you decorate it. here is a great video tutorial by Scrapdaworld that I used to make my clothespins. Altered Clothespins
This is my version of them:

These turned out so cute! I will be making more of these as gifts and a future craft fair. These were easy to assemble and took little time, once the clothespins were painted and dried. Here is a close up of one:
This is a great project and I am hoping you will give it a try, because I believe you will really love them. Add a magnet to the back for a darling refrigerator magnet!

Have an awesome crafty day!

Loaded File Folder

Hello Everyone!

Recently, I was a part of a swap on Facebook. The challenges were alot of fun and one of the most recent projects I made was a Loaded File Folder. This is how it turned out.

I began by making the file folder with a We R Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board and Recollections white card stock. If you choose, you can buy Heidi Swapp's small file folders. Here is a link to My Sister's Scrapper's YouTube video, making the file folder. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJl_UOPMTkQ&t=64s

I used the Recollections English Rose Garden paper pad. This paper pad includes cut outs of seed packets, which I placed in one of the pockets. Also, I made two small rosettes with gemstones in the centers. I used a Tim Holtz die for the rosettes. I made a large pinwheel as well, with a button and I used twine to tie a bow on the button. I made large tags. small tags, and included 5 tea bags, since the theme was tea. Also, some packs of bling and pearls were included. On the front of the file folder are Petaloo flowers sprayed with Glimmer Mist Old Lace. Three leaves punched with a McGill Birch Leaf punch are under the flowers, inked with Ranger Pine Needles Distress Ink. I applied three flat backed pearls and trimmed the bottom with an antiqued lace from JoAnn Fabrics and a shimmery green lace on top of that. I also created an accordion fold on each side of the front flap, because I had so much stuff going into this thing, I needed extra space for all of it.

This project was not difficult to make and I found it to be quite enjoyable. Have fun creating your own loaded file folder!

Happy Crafting!
